Keeping it very weird for Travel Portland.
Why spend your tiny budget on a traditional TV campaign when it could be better spent creating the largest hand-carved cuckoo clock in North America?
We took this 24β tall cuckoo clock to the good people of Seattle and Vancouver to encourage them to visit Portland. At live events, different Portland-y surprises popped out of the clock. From a unicyclist blowing flames out of a bagpipe to a dance party with a raving mime, the clock drew huge crowds and increased Portland tourism by over 6%.
The cuckoo clock was honored by becoming a piece of public art housed inside the Portland International Airport before itβs final resting place in the Oregon Museum of Science.
