Let’s revert to the 3rd person, shall we?
After finishing a creative writing MFA at Cal Arts, Jared took a hard left turn into the ad world where he joined Media Arts Lab, helping write TV spots for the Mac vs. PC campaign and the 1st Gen iPhone launch. He followed this up with heavily awarded campaigns for Nike at R/GA and Google Chrome, Axe and Ally Bank campaigns at BBH NY. This earned the attention of Wieden + Kennedy Portland, where he spent the next 6+ years fine tuning his craft and creating innovative work for some of the most iconic brands in the world like Nike, Coke, Levi’s and Dodge.
Leaving Portland, Jared returned to NYC to join Anomaly. There he helped run the Diageo accounts of Crown Royal and Johnnie Walker North America and Global, helping lead the “Keep Walking America” and “Step Right Up” campaigns.
Hungry to do more purpose-driven work, Jared joined the social impact agency Matter Unlimited as Executive Creative Director, and lead the award-winning creative output of the agency for 2 years. At Matter, he created impactful work for Merck For Mothers, the Rockefeller Foundation, Dr. Anita Hill’s Hollywood Commission for Sexual Harassment, and helped launch Nike’s first sustainability platform “Move To Zero.”
Jared strives to apply big brand level thinking and category-defining creativity to clients and brands desiring to make a difference in the world. He brings relentless enthusiasm to every brief with the aim of creating arresting campaigns that make people take notice and take action in equal measure.
He’s currently open to freelance and full-time opportunities.
Fun fact: my tattoo made the news.
While I’m the first to admit that being another white, bearded, heavily tattooed ad creative is highly cliche, my tattoos generally aren’t. One of them was inspired by Felix Salmon’s article about the formula that brought about the 2008 financial collapse… which I then got tattooed on my forearm as an eulogy for humankind’s unchecked greed. That earned me a NPR interview and prompted Felix Salmon himself to write about my tattoo inspired by his article.
Awards:
The best creativity isn’t driven by awards, but it’s a nice byproduct of doing great work. Here are some of the awards I’ve been honored with throughout my career. It certainly takes a village to earn them, and I’m eternally grateful for all the creative partners and industry collaborators that have enabled me to make recognized work.
